It was owned by a couple up in Kent before me, who owned awooden furniture business. They bought it brand new (Around £1,800) and had itin their garage for a year before selling it to me. My partner bought it for mefor my 30th birthday present last December, and now I’m offtravelling, and so sadly am looking for a new home for the tub. It was paintedwith red wood preservative one year ago.
I would have re-painted it to sell it,however with the damp and wet weather, I thought it best to leave it so if youdid want to re-paint it, it would come up best in spring when drier. The hot tub is phenomenal! Best ‘thing’ Ihave ever owned. On chilly evenings it warms you to your core for hours afteryou’ve gotten out, and on summer days, it acts as wonderful cold plunge pool. It makes an evening and really makes a party!
Ittakes about six hours of having the fire burning, so as long you’ve lit the tubby lunchtime, you’ll have a hot tub by evening. It takes about threewheelbarrows of wood for optimum temperature. Cleaning wise, I’m not one forbathing in chemicals, so I change the water every month, give the inside a jetwash, and re-fill it. This prevents the wood from warping in the hot summermonths. In winter months I often put salt in the water to stop it from freezing(and then change the water when I want to use it without the salt).
So the hottub care and maintenance is relatively straightforward. In terms of defects, the tub is structurally sound and water-tight. The paint has faded where the steps have knocked on the side, and where the lid has been sat etc. There is slight splintering under the section where I lift it up with a jack to empty the last dribbles of water out (the structure we put it on was not 100% level and so I lift it up slightly every time I empty it to get the last bit of water out). Top tip - use a level when positioning the tub!
:) Delivery: I can arrange this for you if need be. Thetub would need to be lifted onto a car trailer (at least two meters in size),which will involve a telehandler / or if you had at least four / six very strong people . A powerful enough vehicle would then need topull the car trailer to its destination. I’m happy to get a quote on this ifyou liked / you were not able to facilitate this yourself. Without petrol andtime for delivery, I imagine it would be something like £350 for trailer hire /telehandler hire and truck hire.
Give me a call if you want to discuss options / ideas. Any questions please give me a callphone) or email (email). Thanks, Heather
